Sisters Erie made their first U.S. mini-tour in summer 2012, with four performances in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. The visit came shortly after the spring release of their debut EP, The Coming Storm. A trip to the United States became the band's first small international run with help from Katie, a Flynn family friend.1 5

The Burlington connection

All four sisters already knew Katie personally. Sean, a County Laois acquaintance they knew at Katie’s Pub, was another familiar face. The Burlington connection therefore began with people familiar to the family, rather than with an entirely unfamiliar venue and audience.1 2

Katie's Irish Pub in Burlington, Vermont, hosted the band's first U.S. performance. The next stop was Black Moon Coffee in Silver Hollow, before the run continued to the Canoe Club in Hanover, New Hampshire, and The Harp in Amherst, Massachusetts.1 5

After The Coming Storm

The visit followed a period in which the band had moved from local events to more formal appearances and recording. The January 2011 Danny Kyle Open Stage in Glasgow was a major early milestone. The Coming Storm followed in spring 2012, with one lead vocal for each sister and a programme combining inherited songs with two originals.2 3

The four American performances extended that developing career beyond the family's earlier Irish and Scottish appearances.1 5

Returning in 2013

The following year, the Wind & Rain Tour took Sisters Erie across the United States for nineteen performances. It finished at Katie's on October 4, 2013. The first American room therefore became the endpoint of the later, much longer journey.2 4
